Gambia Sports Journalist Foday Manneh has issued a defiant warning to Ghana, stating emphatically that the Scorpions will hand the Black Stars an even heavier defeat in the return leg in the 2027 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier.
The Black Stars suffered a humiliating 4-2 defeat to the Gambia in their second qualifier game on Tuesday at the Accra Sports Stadium, having earlier been 2-0 losers to Ivory Coast in Boakue last week Thursday in their opening qualifying match.
The echoes of Gambia’s historic 4–2 victory at the Accra Sports Stadium have barely settled, having created a lot of tension for Ghana ahead of the return fixture.
Speaking in an interview, Gambia’s Foday Manneh says the psychological warfare for the return leg has already begun and boldly forecasted that the wounded Black Stars are walking into an even heavier fall in Banjul.
“When Ghana comes to the Gambia to face us in the reverse fixture, they may take more than four goals,” he told Sporty FM.
Ghana will face the Gambia in March 2027 in their final group C game in Banjul; before that, the Stars will host Ivory Coast in Accra on March 24.
The Black Stars will have to make amends ahead of their next round of qualifiers in November, having registered two straight defeats.
However, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and Coach Carlos Queiroz have mutually agreed to terminate his contract, the FA officially confirmed on Thursday.
