Hearts of Oak forward John Antwi has revealed that his striking prowess has the combination of club legends Ishmael Addo and Luis Agyemang.
According to Antwi, he has always idolized the duo during his early days as a young footballer, adding that he loves to score while forming a formidable partnership with his supporting attackers.
“My style of play as a striker is to hold on to the ball and play with my supporting attackers and also score goals. Some of the Ex-Hearts of Oak players I like to watch and play like them are Ishmael Addo and Luis Agyemang. Growing up, I had the opportunity to watch some of their games and how they both contributed to the success of the team.” Antwi told Hearts TV.
Ishmael Addo and Luis Agyemang were two icons who made exploits playing in the Ghana Premier League in the early 2000s.
Antwi has had a strong start to his Hearta of Oak career, having already registered two goals in two games after he joined the Phobians at the beginning of the 2026/27 campaign on a two-year deal.
The former Dreams FC man registered a brace in Hearts of Oak’s 4-0 emphatic victory over Berekum Chelsea on Match Day 1, where he was subsequently named the Man of the Match after his blistering performance.
He played an integral part in the Phobians’ hard-fought 2-1 win over Gold Stars in Bibiani.
The Phobians have picked two wins in two already and are eager to continue their impressive run when they face Samartex FC on Match Day 4 at the University of Ghana Stadium on Sunday, September 20.
Antwi, who is expected to lead the attack, called on supporters to continue to rally their support behind the club through thick and thin.
“The fans should continue to rally their support behind the team and come to the stadium to watch our games,” he added.
