The President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Okraku, says the association has introduced several interventions to make Colts League participation more accessible ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.

Speaking at the official launch on Tuesday at Prampram, Kurt Okraku emphasized that these new interventions will reduce the financial burden on Colts clubs.

“These include free player registration and digital licenses for up to 90 players per club, 30 players each in U1-13, U-15, and U-17 boy’s categories,” he stated.

According to the CAF 2nd Vice-President, Colts clubs will no longer have to brood over officiating fees, as that has also been scrapped off.

“We have also removed referee fees for Colts clubs,” Kurt added.

Kurt Okraku stressed that when the GFA took the decision to revive Colts football in 2020, the firm had rebuilt a pathway from the community to the regional level.

He added that the pathway has transcended from the regional level to elite development and ultimately from grassroots football to our national teams and the professional game.

At the launch, Kurt confirmed that there are 859 active colts clubs across Ghana’s ten football regions.

He mentioned that the Ashanti Region has the highest number of colts, with 245 clubs, followed by Greater Accra with 216.

The Northern and Brong Ahafo Regions have 98 each, the Central Region has 90, the Western has 50, and the Eastern has 26.

The rest are Upper East with 15, Upper West with 11, and Volta Regions with 10.
