“We’re Not Scared of Ghana”— Gambia’s Muhammed Badamosi Fires Warning Ahead of Tuesday Showdown

Gambian striker Muhammed Badamosi has issued a defiant warning to Ghana, stating emphatically that the Scorpions are completely not scared of the Black Stars ahead of their crucial 2027 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying showdown on Tuesday, September 29.

Badamosi placed the icing on the cake, scoring a dramatic 83rd-minute to fetch a 2-1 winner against Somalia in their Group C opener on Friday.

The towering forward insisted that while Ghana possesses top-tier quality, the Gambia features equally elite talent ready to battle on even terms.

Ebrima Colley opened the scoring for the Gambia when he converted a spot kick in the 18th minute before Bilai Njie Cali leveled for Somalia.

While Ghana suffered a disappointing 2-0 away defeat to Ivory Coast on match day one, it is crystal clear the Gambians are ready to deepen the woes of the Black Stars at the Accra Sports Stadium come Tuesday.

The Riga FC man dismissed any form of fear, pointing out that it’s football—eleven versus eleven, and they have the top-flight talent to match Ghana man-for-man.

“Ghana is a top team with quality players, but we also have players playing for top teams, so we are not scared of Ghana. It’s football, and it’s played with eleven players,” Badamosi said in a post-match interview.

The Gambia missed out on the 2025 AFCON in Morocco and will be eager to return to the continental stage after their last participation in Ivory Coast 2023.

Following Ghana’s defeat to Ivory Coast, the four-time AFCON winners will be keenly focused on securing a win to keep their hopes alive.
