Newly promoted Ghana Premier League side, Port City Football Club, has officially broken into Ghana’s latest top 10 club rankings in the newest Opta Power Rankings, with a 68.9 rating.

It is the first time Port City has achieved this feat, with a stellar tactical display and consistent goal-scoring, to be listed among elite clubs in Ghana in the latest Opta Power Rankings.

The Adonteng Royals occupy the tenth spot with a 68.9 rating, placing them 1,601 globally, the best from a newcomer in Ghana’s elite football league.

The latest has Hearts of Oak picking up the first spot with a 71.7 rating, followed by Medeama SC in second place with a rating of 71.2. Dreams and Samartex occupy the third and fourth spots, with both earning 70.1 ratings, respectively.

In fifth place is Asante Kotoko with a rating of 69.9, Gold Stars comes sixth with a 69.7 rating, while seventh place went to Vision with a 69.0 rating.

Aduana, Berekum Chelsea, sits in eighth and ninth places, respectively, with both having 68.9 ratings.

Opta’s Power Rankings measure the strength of football clubs based on their performances and the quality of the opposition they face.

Each team receives a rating on a scale from 0 to 100, with higher-rated teams considered stronger by the model where the rankings are updated as teams play more matches.

Port City’s emergence can also be attributed to the team’s strong opening to their maiden campaign in the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season.

The Adonteng Royals opened their season with a 1-1 stalemate at home against Ashgold 04, followed by a spirited 2-1 comeback victory over Berekum Chelsea at home, the Daasebre Boamah Darko II Park in Kukurantumi (The Fortress).

They put up a brilliant performance to convincingly defeat Gold Stars 2-0 away, a result that has lifted the team’s spirits as they aim to continue on their impressive start after three games.

Port City will lock horns with defending champions Medeama SC in their fourth game on Wednesday, September 30, at the TNA Stadium in Tarkwa, an earlier matchday 2 fixture that was postponed due to Medeama’s continental challenge.
